Hope you know HTML? Open templates files in HTML editor like dreamweaver (or open it in notepad or wordpad) and remove whatever you wish from your template.

After an initial review of your SEO metatags on your opening webpage, it is quite evident that you believe that spamdexing and loading of keywords is a legitimate way to artificially elevate your PR at google.com. Unfortunately, spamdexing is not a legitimate means and actually Google editors will penalize your website with a lower PR. Also you jeopardize your current website ranking should anyone bother to submit a against your website: your domain name could be removed from google.com's database!

Here's a review of your current metatags along with some suggested improvements:

1. Current: <TITLE>Atlanta Web Design, Website Design Atlanta, Atlanta Website Design,
Webmaster Atlanta – Elasticdesigns</TITLE>

Improved by removal of (a) the domain name since it's not a recognizable brand name; (b) duplicate entries and (c) the need for more descriptive "generic" terms to describe your services. Also follow the entries with a business locator, i.e., city, state [spelled out]:

<TITLE>Website Designer, Commercial, Law Firm, Affordable, Hosting | Atlantic, Georgia [?]</TITLE>

2. Current: <META NAME="description" CONTENT="Atlanta Web Deisign Company Web Design Company in Atlanta Webmaster Atlanta, Atlanta Web Development">

Improved by constructing a singular sentence which describes your services; not merely a listing of services:

<META NAME="description" CONTENT="We offer high quality website designs, business development, hosting services for commercial, law firms in Atlanta, Georgia">

3. Current: <META NAME="keywords" CONTENT="atlanta, web, design, web design, atlanta web design, web designer in atlanta, web development atlanta, hosting, website design, atlanta web site design, atlanta website design, atlanta web site designs, web designs atlanta, law firm web design, webmaster in atlanta, foghat music, foghat, atlantwebdesign">

Improved by removal of duplicate entries:

<META NAME="keywords" CONTENT="website, designer in atlanta, georgia, development, hosting, law firms, webmaster, foghat music, foghat">

Hopefully you can incorporate the above improvements onto your current opening webpage and see a major increase in net traffic to your website.

Good luck!

P.S. Had you conducted another google.com search for "atlanta web design foghat," your website would rank no. 1 out of 2,790 search results!

We use availcheck.com to supply calendars which we can update for availability of our holiday cottages…..its a very very competative market….not sure how much you intend to charge if your site is merely a portal site to the clients own websites…..or do you intend to run it as a booking/management company as well…..if you do, then most agencies charge about 18% plus VAT of the hire fee….just for being a portal site is not very profitable, most such sites advertise for free, but then charge to set up each webpage for each individual property…..a lot of work involved and as I said, a very competative market,, a site we are considering charges £80 per year……so you are not going to be able to retire with 500 cottages on your books….so you need to run an agency….and believe me that is a lot of work. But good luck.

Lot of questions in one sentence!
- A "template" is a pre-designed website to which you have "just" to change the contents. Reserved to amateurs who do not have any graphic skills.
- "Web Development" is "making the design to work", that is CODING.
- "Site Design" or "Web Design": is an artist work to prepare a page/website, the way it will "look"… but does not work! You need the developer (above) to make it work.
- CMS: Content Management System. A kind of Integrated Development Environment that allows unskilled people to chancge the contents of their site themselves. Unfortunately, all CMS are written in complex languages such as Php, ASP, and require that knowledge to be used properly – which means that if you have the skills, you don't need them!!!
These CMS are often offered to "clients" as a website feature (so the client can update his website without the need of the coder. The problem? They are way TOO complex for the clients and are (nearly) never used by the client (or used the first month and then forgotten)
A waste of time, really!
A proper CMS is developped by professionals to fullfill the requirements of the client… and nothing else!
- e-commerce: many scripts available, but ALL too complex: they contain too many features that you do not need. Some of them are 20Meg in size, and the user only makes calls to a few functions. A HUGE overhead for nothing.
A proper e-commerce can be written in a few Kb of code by any professional (and that will be EXACTLY what the client needs).

there are downloadable website builders which are pretty easy to find by typing into the yahoo search engine but also with webs.com you can move alot of the stuff around with CSS. You can change the sizes and colours of everything, change the navigation bar to go across the top or down the side and move the side bar from one side to the other, there is also other stuff.

Some of the CSS codes for webs.com are at and there is more on the way soon.

04.07.11

Now that you've got your domain name you'll need to get it hosted (you can use Godaddy for that too), and then you can use any of the TONS of webbuilding software packages out there to make your site.

I personally write everything from scratch, but I'm a web designer for a living, so if you'd like something easier there's many many options.

Most of them, however do cost money. I haven't used a web template since about 1997 so I don't know what's available now for that sort of thing, but I do know that a lot of people like Dreamweaver and Site Spinner.

Being that I write from scratch with FTP and an open source text editor though I'm not familiar with pricing.

Anyhoo… about css. Basically it stands for "cascading style sheets" and if you know how to use them they are for styling your page.

This site:

has some great tutorials on how to use HTML and CSS.

Good luck!

Pros : Easy and fast. You don't need to know any knowledge about web language (well, sometimes you'll need to know it though).

Cons : Sometimes it cost too much. The designer will put (generally) its logo in the end of the design or on the web code. If you want to change something such the colors or the text, you just can't because they are fixed, if you change them, you'll screw the whole template.

1) Most likely your web host has you on a server with WAMP already installed. The HTML editors you have will be enough to publish your website. However, Frontpage is one you should avoid using since Microsoft no longer develops it or supports it and most web host companies are phasing it out. Nvu is also discontinued so you may want to steer clear of using that one as well. Kompozer is a recent development from Nvu and should work for what you need although Dreamweaver is about the best one out there. I'll provide you with a url for a tutorial on defining a site in Dreamweaver MX, your first step.

2) You don't change the localhost. localhost is a reserved name meaning 'my computer'. Posting a second url for you below to help you understand more about localhost.

Google "Free flash templates"

One caveat about using templates- these are as generic and blank as they get, and to sell your services your website needs to be the least generic and blank design possible. That means you're required to put at least some work into its design, so you really should have some idea on what your web site layout should look like before continuing. The design probably will change in mid development as you come up with new ideas but at least you'll have a direction in which to proceed.

That said, I hate to sound like a commercial, but if you want to start a small business website with minimal fuss then Yahoo's small business services (smallbusiness.yahoo.com) are superb. Domain, web site, and email is $110 per year. Included in the service is a generic library of some 80 blank templates which you can access and modify immediately, but if you have some website design skills you can download their free utility called SiteBuilder. It's a complete web development system and has another 144 templates. The great thing about SiteBuilder is that once you finish your design, simply click the PUBLISH botton on the toolbar and it does all the work for you to automatically upload your design to your domain so it can be viewed by the public immediately.

If you're crunched for cash or you already have your domain and don't need email, then NVU is a good editor (www.nvu.com). It's an open source web development application and it's amazingly powerful for a free program. There are gigantic libraries of free templates created by artists who want to share their work, such as that you can download and modify as you wish. There are video tutorials on how to edit templates in Nvu at
I just finished creating a website for a local town political party running on a shoestring budget, and the above tips worked wonders.

The scrolling from right to left is not a MySpace thing. That's totally dependent upon the layout of your page. If you know what the Hell you're doing, you won't have this issue.
